Winows 10 Ps4 Controller Driver Error

Windows 10 ps4 controller driver error codes

So I have been playing thought ds3 on my PC but after the recent update things like input mapper and ds4 won't work. They start up and everything. The steps to get your PS3 controller working with your PC are very easy, we won't be using MotionJoy in this tutorial, we will be using XInput Wrapper for DS3 (SCP DS3 driver). Jan 27, 2018 - Here's the best way to get your PS4 controller working on PC using an open. 4 wired and via Bluetooth on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. If you're running Windows 7, install the Xbox 360 controller driver next.

Hey all!
Sorry if the title seemed angry - More frustrated than anything.
Firstly to get the DS4 to work I have used ds4tool, ds4Windows and others to try get this working!
So i updated to windows 10 - Mistake i know, Didnt know about the 3 week uninstall period. So i cant roll back now
I installed ds4tool and ds4windows - The drivers required to map DS4 to XInput as a 360 Controller.. Paired up my DS4 via dongle - Played with ds4tool for months via Bluetooth. Worked fine

Only issue is if i plugged the controller in to charge whilst it was BT connected or Otherwise [straight usb] it would be detected as both a Xbox 360 controller and a Wireless Controller.
So whenever i play a game. Lets say fallout 4 -- 'B' is pipboy. On wireless controller its Jump [ Cant be remapped btw ive tried xpadder. ] So when i press B [Or Circle] It will jump my char and bring up Pipboy at the same time. If i press 'right' on the D pad - 360 map is the 3rd action wheel setting. Wireless controller mapping is Pause. So pressing right on the D pad to select my weapon ALSO pauses the game. SO in otherwords its unplayable.

as long as im Only connected via BT it works a charm
NEW ISSUE! turned on ds4windows today. Turned on my controller. Didnt connect?, Just flashing like its searching. Even though my BT dongle is on and Ds4Windows running.
Naturally i open devices and printers because windows 10 default devices simplified bullsh** screen is useless - Devices are ' Wireless controller ' No 360 pad as its not BT connected obviously.
Why wont it connect? I dont know. Was working last night! Havent changed anything. Have restarted PC 3 times..
So i decide. Bugger it! Unpair the controller and repair. Funny.
Cant unpair. I go to windows 10's useless device page. Click bluetooth. Click 'Wireless Controller - Paired' and clicked unpair.
It says 'Removing Device' ....... 'Removing Device'... After about 25Sec 'Remove Failed'
No error nothing.
So I go into devices and printers. - Right click 'Wireless controller' Click uninstall. Nothing happens. - Go into device manager. Under bluetooth. Right click Wireless Controller. Properties. Change settings. Driver. Uninstall. Tab closes. Doesnt uninstall..
If i disable - Then uninstall my Bluetooth dongle. It will remove the 'Wireless Controller Pairing setting' until i reconnect the dongle even in a different USB port and reinstall the BT dongle drivers as per usual STRAIGHT AWAY it automatically keeps the pairing between the controller. So still no luck.
I delve into the registry. Uninstall the BT Dongle. Delete its registry entries and everything related to it.
Restart PC. Reinsert BT Dongle. It installs.
Go to Bluetooth page. STILL PAIRED WITH THE WIRELESSCONTROLLER with NO WAY of unpairing or removing it..
Ive tried external apps to pair the controller. But aslong as the Wireless Controller Pairing is there it wont even find the controller when its in Search mode. [Share + PS] Ive tried every USB port - Uninstalled reinstalled ds4 scp drivers and the like. Tried Win360ce drivers to no avail as obviously without the controller BT connected it doesnt exist.
But how am i to pair the controller to connect it - When its 'Already' paired. And cant connect? cant remove the pairing. Even in safemode. Even with 3rd party apps. The previous pairing with the controller CANNOT be removed. Even after the dongle is completely removed registry and all...........
Im at such a loss for words i ordered a Steam Controller an hour ago and eagerly await its arrival!
Thing is! Ill never get over how comfortable the DS4 is. Its perfect. I really really want to continue PC gaming with this controller. But Because of the windows 10 rollback issue i cant downgrade without formatting my harddrive which i cant afford to backup........... Ahhhh Nor can i be bothered indivudually installing over 100 applications and games again all over a driver and controller not pairing...........
I hope and pray some individual on this forum can find my answer!
All help is much much muchly appreciated!

The Code 10 error is one of several Device Manager error codes. It's generated when Device Manager can't start the hardware device, a situation usually caused by outdated or corrupted drivers.

A device may also receive a Code 10 error if a driver generates an error that Device Manager doesn't understand. In other words, a Code 10 error can sometimes be a very generic message indicating some kind of unspecified driver or hardware problem.

The Code 10 error will almost always display in the following way:

Details on Device Manager error codes like Code 10 are available in the Device Status area in the device's properties. See How to View a Device's Status in Device Manager for help.

The Code 10 error could apply to any hardware device in Device Manager, though most Code 10 errors appear on USB and audio devices.

Any of Microsoft's operating systems could experience a Code 10 Device Manager error including Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and more.

Important:Device Manager error codes are exclusive to Device Manager. If you see the Code 10 error elsewhere in Windows, chances are it's a system error code or software-specific error, which you should not troubleshoot as a Device Manager issue.

How to Fix a Code 10 Error

Install Ps4 Controller Windows 10

  1. Restart your computer if you haven't done so already.

There is always the chance that the error Code 10 you're seeing on a device was caused by some temporary problem in Device Manager or with the hardware. If so, a reboot, like in many situations, might fix the Code 10 error.

  2. Did you install a device or make a change in Device Manager just before the Code 10 error appeared? If so, it's possible that the change you made caused the Code 10 error.

Undo the change if you can, restart your PC, and then check again for the Code 10 error.

Depending on the changes you made, some solutions might include:

    • Removing or reconfiguring the newly installed device
    • Rolling back the driver to a version prior to your update
    • Using System Restore to undo recent Device Manager related changes
    • Reinstall the drivers for the device. Uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers for the device is a likely solution to a Code 10 error.

If a USB device is generating the Code 10 error, uninstall every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers hardware category in Device Manager as part of the driver reinstall. This includes any USB Mass Storage Device, USB Host Controller, and USB Root Hub.

Properly reinstalling a driver, as in the instructions linked above, is not the same as simply updating a driver. A full driver reinstall involves completely removing the currently installed driver and then letting Windows install it over again from scratch.

  3. Update the drivers for the device. It's also very possible that installing the latest drivers for the device could correct the Code 10 error, even if these drivers were previously functional.

If this works, it means that the stored Windows drivers you reinstalled in Step 3 were either a) damaged, or b) outdated with a problem that the more up-to-date drivers corrected.

Be sure to check for the latest drivers from your computer and device manufacturer (if applicable) since one may have a more recent driver available than the other.

  4. Install the latest Windows service pack. Microsoft often releases service packs and other patches for Windows, one of which might contain a fix for the Code 10 error.

  5. Delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values in the registry. Two particular values in the Windows Registry could be corrupted, causing the Code 10 error.

While this isn't a very common solution to a Code 10 issue, it is for many other Device Manager error codes. Don't be afraid to try this if the previous ideas haven't worked.

  6. Try an older driver version, or one for the previous version of Windows. Almost all manufacturers continue to provide previously available drivers on their websites.

This trick doesn't work to fix Code 10 errors very often, and when it does, it probably means that the latest driver provided by the manufacturer has serious problems, but it's worth a shot before trying the next few steps.

Try using DriverHub to install an older driver if you can't find it on the manufacturer's website.

  7. Purchase a poweredUSB hub if the Code 10 error is showing up for a USB device.

Some USB devices require more power than the USB ports in your computer can give it. Plugging those devices into a powered USB hub circumvents that issue.

  8. Replace the hardware. A problem with the hardware device itself might be causing the Code 10 error, in which case replacing the hardware is your next logical step.

Another possibility, while not very likely, is that the device is not compatible with your version of Windows. You can always check the Windows HCL to be sure.

  9. If you're positive that a hardware problem isn't causing the Code 10 error, you could try a repair install of Windows. If that doesn't work, try a clean install of Windows. I don't recommend doing either before you replace the hardware, but you may have to give them a try if you're out of other options.

Please let me know if you've fixed a Code 10 error using a method that I don't have above. I'd like to keep this page as accurate as possible.
